We 3 Sea Instagram Exhibition
Artwork created in response to lockdown
I’m co-hosting an event called ‘We 3 Sea’ together with two artists I’ve met virtually over the last year, all members of a unique art community called the Connected Artist Club. Over the last year, we each have experienced a sense of real loss with regards to simple freedoms such as being able to draw plein air at our favourite coastal locations around the UK. We agreed a few months ago to come together and plan an online art exhibition inspired by our shared love of the sea. Happening on Saturday 10th April, we will be co-presenting the event on Instagram (courtesy of Instagram Live Rooms) to show off some of our work. Each of us will be sharing insights into our work and process, and talking about why we love water, the coast and the sea so much. We have created an online Exhibition guide which you can view HERE.
As artists, with most of our usual face to face exhibitions cancelled over the last year, we have had to learn new ways to connect with our audiences and buyers online. As a creative, I’ve enjoyed learning new ways of working and using social media in creative ways.
Once lockdown is lifted we shall be planning to meet face to face for a well deserved cocktail by the Sea of course!
In addition each of us have also created a 20cm x 20cm mini artwork which we will be conducting a silent auction on in support of the wonderful RNLI. The RNLI is a charity founded upon and driven by values of selflessness, courage, dependability and trustworthiness, with volunteers at its heart. Volunteers make up 95% of the RNLI organisation - ordinary people doing extraordinary things - who are supported by expert staff, all working together to help communities at home and abroad save lives.
The schedule of activity is as follows:
2 pm - Three way Artist's Welcome on Instagram Live Rooms (artist Introductions for Penny Hunt, Emma Tweedie and Emma J Read). Join the artists for a ‘sea inspired cocktail’ (details will be posted in advance on how to create yours) . Quick intro to our RNLI artworks for the Silent Auction.
2.30 pm - Q&A on Instagram Live Rooms with the 3 artists, talking about 1 x specific artwork each and the processes behind it.
3 pm - Q&A on Instagram Live Rooms with the 3 artists talking about their passion for the sea, why the creative process is so important to them, and how it helped them during lockdown
3.30pm - Final pop up on Instagram Live Rooms featuring special guest Hampshire based Interior Designer Laura Porter
