Digging Deep is the first solo exhibition to be staged by leading art gallery Canvas Galleries since moving to their new state of the art gallery in Belfast. Designed by Robert Gilmour Architects, this contemporary space is the perfect backdrop for my new collection of original paintings, all available exclusively through the gallery. The show kicks off off with a Private View on Thurs 27 Oct.
Running from 27 Oct to 10 Nov, the Digging Deep series explores the spiritual anchors of land, sea and sky, and subject of self-identity in a realm of things less defined. The collection consists of 16 artworks that have been created especially for the exhibition, and which carry all my artistic hallmarks of texture, fluid use of colour and pay homage to many of Ireland’s most beautiful vistas.
These landscapes and seascapes are and representations of past and present places are brought together in a series of paintings and act as a portrait of myself, the artist, as witness and interpreter.
The collection has taken over five months of preparation, and works range in size from the largest piece at 150cm x 150cm to smaller studies at 20cm x 30cm. All have been specially framed by Canvas Galleries in house framing team to complement each individual work.
