Often I am asked to create commissions for clients and for stylists working on home interiors magazines. recently there was a request for artworks that worked with a particular colour palette to include in a story about teal blue colours for the Spring issue of House Beautiful magazine. I created this unique piece called ‘The Wind Blew Up the Beach’ for the shoot, using layer upon layer of acrylic ink, standard acrylic paint, concentrated watercolour and gouache, working into the layers loosely and with freedom. With acrylics its standard practice to work from a dark to light palette, however here I have moved between the two to get the right balance of colour. The intent was to capture the right colour quality to work for the shoot, but also to create a piece with movement. I ALSO LOVE THE IRONY OF THEIR TITLE FOR THIS ARTICLE GIVEN MY NAME!
